End of August Special

Sara has started enjoying coloring with Emma. After this picture was taken, she chewed up the end of the orange crayon. Emma kept saying, "Sawa put it in her mouff! Sawa put it in her mouff!"
We've introduced the potty to Emma but she's not very interested in using it herself. She is enjoying trying to potty train her Mickey Mouse though.
She even praises him and claps for him afterwards. This also goes for anyone who comes out of one of our bathrooms. The other day Emma said, "Yea, Daddy go to the potty!"
Sara continues to enjoy eating. She really likes to put the food in her mouth all by herself. Someone has to poke the food onto the fork but she is getting there!

WAR EAGLE!

Just in Time for Football Season!

Emma and Sara have been practicing their "War Eagle" cheer for quite some time with the help of their parents and both sets of grandparents. The girls have also really enjoyed listening to their "Aubie" music, which is a CD of the Auburn band playing the fight song and various cheers. This morning Emma was asked to say "War Eagle" and instead she started in on singing the fight song! I was stunned! She has heard me sing it but I didn't know she knew it! I was AUsome! Ha ha! I will try my best to get this on video!

Bag Babies, Double Readers, and Laundry Basket Ball

I don't remember why the girls got into my huge L.L. Bean bag in the first place, but they enjoyed sitting in it...until it started tipping over!
Sara has learned a new trick and she is quite proud of herself. She can now get up into most any chair, couch or coffee table in our house! She likes to stand up once she gets on the couch and doesn't seem to understand why all this is really stressing Mommy out!
We played a rousing game of throw the ball into the clothes hamper the other day. Sara didn't really want to throw it in the hamper so she just threw it anywhere she wanted.

Dr. Marcus P. Kolmetz

We traveled to Arizona last week for Marcus' AuD graduation ceremony in Phoenix. Here is one of the first pictures of the new doctor! We are so proud of you!
We also took a side trip to the Grand Canyon. It is really indescribable!
Marcus' parents are so proud of their son that they are willing to throw each other off the South Rim of the canyon!

A Little of This and A Little of That

This is what happens when Mommy takes her Sunday afternoon nap and Daddy is in charge.
Emma likes to read her Mickey Mouse book very closely. She has been investigating everything with her magnifying glass lately.
Sara is a little fashion plate! The beads are quite tasty, by the way!

I know, I know...it's been a long time!

The girls have been very busy lately. I'm not even sure where to start! Here are a few pics and more will be added soon. I promise! Sara wore this little number, given by Uncle Brandon and Aunt Lolly, to church on Sunday. As you can see, the hat didn't last too long!
One of the girls new "things" to do is to get in the corner of Emma's room and play with my old Raggedy Anne. This new game involves talking to Anne and to each other in extremely high little voices. You can't stay in the room with then very long or you'll loose your hearing!
Emma and Sara took a little visit to the beach in Destin a few weeks ago. They spent a total of 8 minutes on the sand and they had had enough. We also splashed in the pool for a few minutes. It was late in the day and the "fussies" were in full effect. We'll try again later in the summer. It just made me think of all the families who spend hundreds of dollars to travel to the beach and to then have toddlers who could care less about it all!

Memorial Day Cupcake

She might not have totally demolished her birthday cake, but Miss Sara Grace really put a hurtin' on her Memorial Day cupcake. She very delicately picked at the icing until Mommy picked it up and offered it to her. All of a sudden...wham...that cupcake made full contact with all eight of the baby teeth she has! It was a sight to behold!

Growing Up Girls

Emma has now graduated to her big girl bed, which means her crib doesn't have the front on it anymore. I know she was ready for this months ago, but Mommy wasn't! I'm sure you've noticed that the bumper is still on her bed. Well...she has used it as a pillow forever and I just couldn't take it away from her. I know we will have to because it is looking pretty beat up in places. She has her own pillow but I would guess her head only stays on it for a little while. We have a feeling she sleeps like her Mama...which means all over the place!

Our little Sara is really growing up too! She can put her fork in her mouth by herself! Mommy or Daddy has to put the food on it for her, but she can take care of the rest...and boy, does she!

Emma has really started to enjoy her new sandbox and all its various accessories. She loves watching the sand fall through this little sand windmill-kinda-thing.

More Birthday Weekend!

The girls really enjoyed their birthday cake. Emma had a slice of the big "choc-it cake" and Sara got her own white smash cake. We had high hopes of Sara really tearing into that poor little cake...but it never happened. The poor thing got icing in her eyes and had to be taken away from her own birthday party for an impromptu bath. Strange angle, I know. This was the scene on Sunday morning as our family left church. We had the girls dedicated during the morning service. It was so wonderful because we had practically all our family members present. (We missed you Unca Brandon and Aunt Lolly) From the back of the pic to the front we have great grandfather Papa, Aunt Beth, Grana, Emma, Grandaddy, Grandpa, Paw Paw, Maw Maw, Sara, Daddy and Grandma. Mommy and great grandmother Mom were all together behind this group so they weren't in the picture.

Notes on how to decifer Emma-ese

Emma is reading the Wheels on the Bus in this video. I picked up my camera and started filming it after she had already read a little bit of the book. She didn't know I was taking her picture, or she would have stopped...like she does a thousand times a day when I try to capture something cute! Anyway...here is the transcript of her reading.
The baby on the bus goes wah, wah, wah all around the town.
The people on the bus go up and down all around the town.
The people on the bus go shh, shh, shh all around the town.
The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep all around the town.
The people on the bus go up and down all around the town.

That's approximately what she is saying. I know it's hard to hear her among the baby sounds Sara is making and the clock that starts chiming. It's better than nothing! Hope you understand it!

About the Video

I'm excited that we have put up our first video post! Don't ask me why there are two of the some videos on the blog. I have no idea why it happened, how it happened or how to fix it. I welcome any and all suggestions! I have another video that I am trying to upload now. I'm doing to same thing I did yesterday but no success...yet.

Stickers and Cruising

Emma enjoyed adding stickers to our "heart art." She kept asking me to draw more hearts and then she would put the "faces" on them. Then she had to take the faces off her paper and put them on her milk cup. She hasn't learned that sometimes the stickers won't come off, which is very frustrating!
Our little Sara Grace started cruising Sunday. She started moving down the love seat first, in pursuit of the remote control. Then she moved on to the coffee table. Unfortunately, she had a cruising accident later in the day.
You can tell she got over it and she really didn't cry much at all. She hit the entertainment center with her forehead just over her right eye. She was standing up, holding herself up with one hand and looking over her shoulder at Emma. In the blink of an eye, she was down for the count. The whole thing seemed to happen in slow motion! I just couldn't get there fast enough!

Day after Easter

Since it was so cold Easter Sunday, the girls didn't get to go egg hunting until Monday afternoon. They still had to get bundled up!

Sara didn't get to do much hunting, but Emma did dump her full Easter basket close enough for Sara to snag a few eggs. She seemed to enjoy orange the best. She also picked up a few magnolia leaves too! Imagine where she put them! She is so fast!
Emma liked looking around for the colorful eggs. She would get really excited when she found a bunch together. This time last year she cried when we put her in the grass.
Our girls are growing up too fast!

I promise to post some Easter morning pictures soon! The girls looked lovely in their little dresses.

MawMaw and PawPaw Visit

MawMaw and PawPaw were able to stop by twice on there way to and back from Gulfport, Mississippi last week. They brought the girls some really cute outfits (the ones they are wearing in the picture) and some great books. One is entitled "Everything I Know About the Potty!" We really enjoyed getting to see them and hope they come back soon!

Emma loved serving PawPaw a snack from her tea set. He's probably still full from all the food she kept bringing him!

Sara Stands!

Sara has been trying to pull up since she became mobile. She spent some of her morning nap time practicing in her crib and was able to do it! Learning early that practice makes perfect!
Meanwhile, Emma continues to love balls and Easter eggs, which are usually also called balls. Who knew they make such attractive head coverings!
This morning was a big day for yellow "key cat" (kitty cat in Emma speak). Sara started to show interest so...

Emma had to take it away. That's the way things are around here. Sara puts forth so much effort to crawl over to get something and Emma walks over and snatches it! Poor Sara Grace! Emma better watch out though! Sara will be up and walking in no time!

Sara Grace Update!

Hello! I wanted to give you an update on what I'm up to these days. I enjoy eating, clapping my hands, chewing on things, and crawling. My future endeavors include pulling up on the furniture, yanking my sister's hair, and using the spoon by myself. My parents hope that one day I will hold my bottle and sippy cup with my own two hands. I probably could but I want them to feel needed.

Updates!

We have another mobile child! Saturday night, I was busy getting the girls bath ready while Marcus was getting the girls ready...which means getting them undressed. Emma was running around the house squealing with the joy of being in just a diaper. Sara was waiting with Daddy in Emma's room when she spied something she wanted enough (an ABC 123 toy that lights up and plays music) to crawl toward. She's been stuck in "reverse" (getting herself stuck under her crib, Emma's crib, the coffee table, her exersaucer, the list goes on) for a few days so we were excited that she put herself in "drive." As Marcus said, it wasn't pretty but she got the job done. I know she will perfect her crawling in the days to come!

In Emma updates, she continues to love the Little Einstein's and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Her favorite things include being read to, reading to Sara, swinging, and singing along with Jack Hartmann's nursery rhyme CD. She picked up a little Bible book the other day and pointed to the cover and said "Jesus!" As Marcus said, "That is pretty cool." She also was able to identify almost all the items I put in our cart at Publix the other day. The people around us got to hear, "lettuce, cheese, yogurt, milk, cereal, Sara (the baby on the diaper package), apple, banana, Mickey (card aisle) and chocolate cake (as I sprinted down the cookie aisle...like she wouldn't notice what was on the shelves). Of course she doesn't pronounce all these words correctly but I can't figure out how to write the way she says these words, but it's really cute.

We better go. We have lots to do to get ready for our trip to Grana's house tomorrow!

Swing!

Grandaddy put a swing in the yard at Grana and Grandaddy's house. When we drove up, Emma yelled out "Wheee, wheee, wheee!" Notice where Emma is in this picture... and see how far across the yard she goes! The swing is also convertible to a "big girl swing" for Mommy and Aunt Beth to use!

Meanwhile, at home in Lynn Haven, Daddy and Grandpa were busy setting up and installing this swing set in Emma and Sara's backyard. What a happy surprise! Emma said, "I swing! I swing!" So far we've logged 90 minutes on our new swing set since yesterday afternoon!

The girls are ready to go to church!
