Scooter Sisters

We've been playing on the driveway during the afternoons for the last few days. The sun just seems warmer and the wind seems calmer than in the backyard these days. So the girls have been using that extra time to practice their scooters (as Emma calls them). Sara uses the Fred Flintstone Method...you know, just pushing with her feet and not really caring about the peddles like Fred does in his stone-age car.

Emma has been a fan of the Flintstone Method in the past, but she got on Sara's big wheel and started using the peddles the other day! She has a few problems with steering at this point, but I know she'll get that taken care of soon.

Here is our girl in action on the big wheel. (Safety Notice: after Emma goes out of the camera shot, you hear a car going by...don't worry...Emma wasn't anywhere near the end of the driveway or the car.)

Yesterday Emma tried out her tricycle and had success the first time!

This Just In...

Marcus ran in the kitchen and said I had to go see Sara.
Well...this was a picture moment if ever there was one.
She stopped in her tracks to sleep!

Guess that book just didn't capture her attention this time!

I just love a good close-up!

She's starting to remind me of one of the older gentlemen that used to sing in our choir when I was little. You know...the one who fell asleep during the sermon but his bobbing head kept waking him up!

After I took this picture, I settled Sara down on her pillow and tucked her in. Shhh! She's still sleeping! Happy napping to everyone!

Kite Flyers

Santa Claus brought the girls some kites in their stockings. We finally decided to take them out and give them a try. I knew the girls would get frustrated with a tradition kite with the long string and everything...so I cut the string a lot shorter and taped the string to some plastic golf clubs. Viola! Fuss-free kite flying!Emma runs by the camera...I'm really good at getting shots of the backs of the girls heads!

Yeah!!! Sara is actually running at the camera so I was able to capture her cute face!

Of course, the girls had to beat on the sandbox with their kites.

As Grandaddy would say...the girls are "cooling their jets."

Snow Day

Yes, you read that right! What? Snow in Florida!

Emma had a snow day at school today! The school newsletter mentioned that when the weather conditions were right, they would let everyone know when the snow would appear. Well...yesterday Ms. Louise called to tell us to bring a warm coat, gloves and a hat to school today!

Here are the girls in what was left of the snow by the time school was over.

Sara enjoyed playing in the snow even though it was incredibly slippery!
(And, of course, Emma fell down as we were leaving.)

Ms. Mary (the director) said she ordered the snow over the internet and it came as a powder. They added water and viola...snow! After three days, the snow will return to powder form. She said they learned a lot today, which probably means they will do something else next year!

Rain Boots & Tiaras

The girls have been busy perfecting their wardrobes for the Redneck Preschool Pageant. So far their wardrobe includes rain boots and a plastic tiara.

Sara has been working on keeping that tiara on her head. It's harder than it looks!
