Fall is in the Air!

The title of this entry has nothing to do with the pics I'm going to be posting but I'm just loving this weather! Anyway...

I should have brought this huge box out of Sara's closet sooner! The girls were sitting in it, pretending it was their boat, when their Daddy walked by. He decided it would make a better sports car!

They "drove" all over the house...stopping every so often for the motor to recharge (he was pulling 65 pounds of absolute dead weight). They had a blast until the "car" started ripping down the side. You just can't get good quality products anymore!

Sara taught me a valuable lesson: don't leave a clean load of folded laundry just sitting on the floor. To illustrate her point, she piled her babies in and then sat on top of them.

Lesson learned! Thanks Sara!

Pumpkin Patch 2008

We took our annual trek to the Pumpkin Patch Saturday morning.

And we're walking...we're walking.

Time for a photo shoot. Look to the right!

Great! Now look down and pretend that we aren't telling you to actually look at us and leave the pumpkins alone.

Super! Now we need you to smile! One out of two isn't too bad.

Now, switch places and smile! Emma, nice touch with the little squash! Sara, I love the way you've placed your finger on your chin. Very intellectual pose!

Okay! Let's add Daddy into the mix!

And switch! It's Mommy's turn! Sara, don't run off just yet!

Thank goodness that's over with! Now we get to selecting our pumpkin! How does this one look?

Emma likes this one because it has a long stem.

Sara is drawn to the one that weighs as much as she does.

And heave ho!

After we paid for our pumpkin, the teenager working the booth gave each of the girls a small pumpkin. Sara took it and then put it down. I guess she thought she was shoplifting. Emma was very taken with her little pumpkin though. If I get really adventurous, we might paint the little pumpkins later in the week.

Emma and I worked on drawing pumpkins when we got him. I tried to show her that she could take her basic Mickey drawing and turn it into a pumpkin. Her pumpkin is over her shoulder. It reminds me of an Indian but it was a great first try!

Our Last Day at Disney

Monday started out with beautiful weather! We made our way to the Polynesian dock for the boat ride to the Magic Kingdom!

Doesn't everyone look bright-eyed and bushy tailed!

Sara really enjoyed the short ride to the Magic Kingdom. Once we got there, we hopped on the train and rode around the park until we got off at the Mickey's Toon Town Fair stop.

The girls loved playing in the playground across from Mickey's house.

But I think they had the most fun at Donald's boat.

We took the girls socks and shoes off and let them run wild in this area. The boat was surrounded by some squishy ground covering with water gurgling out of the "lily pads."

I think Grandaddy and Sara teamed up to squirt Emma by strategically placing their fingers in the hole the water was coming out of. Fluid dynamics training starts early you know!

Yes, the girls were soaked when it was all said and done but it was worth it. Grana and I took them to the bathroom and changed them into some dry clothes.

Then we took a picture by the Toon Town sign before we left to explore another area...the cream cheese filled pretzel snack zone! Yum!

After our pretzels and frozen Cokes (my favorite!) we rode the People Mover and then made our way back to the Polynesian for nap time. We stayed longer than expected at the resort since a nice rain shower seemed to be sitting on top of us for several hours.

After a while, we decided to be adventurous and travel to EPCOT to enjoy the Food and Wine Festival one more time...raining or not. We put the girls in their rain shoes and put some ponchos over their heads and strollers and enjoyed the evening. Sara wasn't thrilled with this set-up until some french fries showed up a little later.


Emma kinda liked it and even wanted her poncho on after it stopped raining. We ate a little more and ended our day with a showing of IllumiNations (a spectacular fireworks, laser and pyrotechnics show in the lagoon).

We boarded the monorail for our last trip back to the Polynesian. Sara snagged her Daddy's hat (the blanket and pacifier are hers) and enjoyed the ride!

We'll miss you, Mickey!

Looks like something really got to Sara as she watched the Boo To You Parade!

This cowboy was really sweet. He noticed Emma taking his picture and danced over to ask me if she was able to get the picture okay.

Not really sure how to describe this picture. It's a ball that had a person sitting on top of it that rolled down the street. Guess it caught Emma's attention!

What child wouldn't want a picture of the Goofy's Candy Company truck!

You can see part of Goofy in the top left of this picture. You can also see the rope that kept everyone off of the parade route. As the truck went by us, Goofy's employees walked by giving out chocolate candy to everyone. I was impressed! Actual chocolate! And by this time, I really needed some!

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Welcome to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party!

Here are the girls all suited up for the party in their princess dresses. By the way, Sara's dress looks like it's a mini-skirt but it wasn't. We had to bunch it up to strap her in. Notice that she is using her magic wand to smack her grandfather in the face. We'll have to report that to the Princess Practices Council!

Thank you to Grana for making the girls dresses. I didn't get a shot of them standing up in them for some reason. We'll be sure to get one before we go to the Fall Festival at church in a few weeks. The girls are waiting for the parade to start.

It's starting! It's starting!

It's Tigger, Pooh and Piglet...and this time Tigger stayed away from Sara!

Sara was really into the parade!

I so wanted the girls to have their pictures taken in front of Cinderella's coach but the line was un-be-live-ably long! So, Marcus took a quick picture while people were shuffling away after getting their picture taken. We're going to get Aunt Beth to photoshop us in front of it! We'll post that one when she's done!


We were about to take the girls out of their strollers so we could ride It's A Small World when they decided they needed some hugging time. I took the picture from above them just in case you were wondering.

By the time the fireworks went off, Emma had had enough and checked out for the evening. The huge booms didn't even bother her! We'll showcase some of Emma's pictures next time!

An EPCOT Morning

Welcome to our second day at Disney World!

The day started with a rousing game of "ring around the ottoman" in our room before we got a bite to eat at Captain Cook's.

Waiting patiently is not the hallmark of a two year old, so I'm glad this fan was able to keep Sara's attention while she waited for her giant Mickey waffle!

Sara loved riding the monorail over to EPCOT. She kept raising her hands above her head and yelling "Whee! This is fun!" Just wait til she is tall enough to ride a real roller coaster!

Emma liked all the beautiful vegetation around the Polynesian Resort but she really loved the hibiscus flowers we saw. Grana picked her one and she kept up with it the whole day! After a while, we put it in her hat.

Can you guess this celebrity we "ate lunch with" at EPCOT?

Grana spotted Matt Lauer (from the Today Show) while she was ordering the girls some french fries at the quick service restaurant in the American Adventure. She came back to tell us who she saw and I didn't believe her. So I ran up, pretending to be engrossed in the menu, so I could get a closer look at him. Sure enough, it was him! He looks thrilled to be at Disney, doesn't he?

My parents are going to be love this one! There was a special section devoted to Pears in the Food and Wine Festival. I don't know what these funny mirrors had to do with pears, but this is what Grana and Grandaddy would look like if they were turned into dwarfs.

While some of us were stalking Matt Lauer, Beth visited the New Delhi, India booth and picked up some Samosa with Tamarind Sauce for us all to try. Quite tasty!

Marcus tried some sushi from the Japan pavilion's Food and Wine Festival booth. Grandaddy just observed this time around. We also sampled some great food from Chile, Germany, Italy and France.

The girls loved visiting the Journey Into Imagination pavilion. The girls are running around lighted squares that have different musical instruments on them. When you stand on one, you hear the sound of the instrument. They got a chance to get out of the strollers and run in the AC. As you can see, this one is a big hit with the preschool set!

As we were enjoying some Creme Brulee Chocolat au Lait from the Lyon, France Food and Wine Festival Booth, Emma was happy to sniff another flower Grana picked for her.

We didn't have to share our Creme Brulee with Sara because she feel asleep. I was worried her neck would be sore when she woke up, but it didn't seem to bother her.

Back onto the monorail for the trip back to the Polynesian. We had big plans that night to attend Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party so we had to nap, eat supper and get into our princess dresses!
