Walking Field Trip

All seven Kindergarten classes went on a walking field trip to sing Christmas carols at a retirement center.

The walk wasn't too bad even though it was really chilly!

Each class made cute wintry t-shirts. Emma's class made penguins using their feet! Here is Emma and her friends getting ready to sing!

After the concert, the classes continued walking to Po Folks for lunch. With 130 children to feed, plus 7 teachers, 7 paraprofessionals, and too many parents to count...they really got the food to us quickly!

Here we go back to school...Kindergartners as far as the eye can see!

All I Want For Christmas...

is my lower right incisor!

Emma has had a loose tooth for a few weeks. Last Saturday, she asked me to pull it. I was moving it back and forth and was able to get my fingers on it when she pulled her jaw down...out popped the tooth! The "big girl" tooth was already coming in behind the baby tooth so I'm glad it finally has room to come on in.

Christmas Comparison

All the Kolmetz girls are home from school today. The little ones are sick and the older one (I'm not going to say bigger one) is taking care of them. They are busy watching Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas while I'm drinking coffee in an effort to stay awake. To keep my mind busy, I thought I would compile a "Christmas Comparison" on our blog. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party!

Emma's Kindergarten Pow Wow was really great. It was only about 20 minutes (which was perfect) and each class would alternate singing or reciting a poem and then sing together. It was quite an accomplishment to coordinate 7 classes into such a streamlined presentation!

After the Pow Wow, Sara and I made a trip over to Home Depot to finally buy a gallon of paint for Emma's room. We used up the small sample size and haven't done anything since. I want to get the room painted and put back together before Christmas is here. Sara was very excited to see this inflatable Santa and had to have her picture taken with him.

Now I have to get to painting that room!

October Review

Aunt Leveda was right! It has been a while since I've updated our blog. We've been busy so here are the pictures to prove it!

Field Trip!

Emma went on her first "big girl" field trip. It was quite a deal! All seven of the Kindergarten classes went to the Fire Station, ate lunch at Bonefish Grill and had a stop at the Pumpkin Patch...all in one day! Parents were invited to join everyone for lunch.

Here is Emma and her classmate (and our neighbor) Conner at lunch. I don't think we ever ate out for lunch on one of my field trips!

Each child got to choose one small pumpkin at the patch.

I would guess that the highlight of Emma's day was riding the bus. We live too close to the school for her to ride the bus...and I don't think I'd let her even if she could...so she was thrilled to ride the "cheese wagon."


Pumpkin Patch Hayride

Sara got to go on a mini-field trip too. Our preschool hitched up a hayride down the the pumpkin patch in the church parking lot. I had to stay with my class so I don't have any pictures from the pumpkin patch but I did get to see Sara's class ride by my window. They were all dressed in orange and had huge smiles on their faces...kinda like the one Sara is sporting in the above picture.

Adult Field Trip
Marcus, Beth and I took a trip to the loveliest village on the plains...Auburn, Alabama!

We're gearing up for a family trip to the Pumpkin Patch this afternoon and I'm putting the finishing touches on the girls' Halloween costumes. I feel like one of the designers on Project Runway! We'll see if their Jessie and Woody costumes stay together long enough for the Fall Festival at church on Sunday!

Soaring Eagle!

Our Emma was featured on WFUN this morning because she was selected as a Soaring Eagle for August/September! We found out last Friday and Emma has been looking forward to it ever since! She received a Soaring Eagle magnet for the van, a free buffett at Golden Corral and a certificate (suitable for framing!).

I've spent over an hour trying to get the video to load using three different applications and haven't had any success. Hopefully I can figure out another way soon.

Tea Cups, Green Eggs and Cowgirls...Oh, My!

Here's what's been happening around here!

Tea Cups

Can you look at this strange tea party and tell where Sara wants to go?

Yep, she wants to go to Disney World! The discerning eye will notice that each princess is in her own tea cup, just like one of Sara's favorite rides in Fantasyland! The princes' were not so lucky....they are laying on the saucers on the purple tray. Sara mentions that she want to ride the tea cups and "the elephant" at least twice a day.

Green Eggs

Green Eggs and Ham has become a favorite book around here recently. After hearing Daddy read it to the girls one night, I thought I would really be up for Mom-the-Year by making green eggs and bacon for breakfast the next morning. Sara was extremely reluctant to eat the eggs but finally did after I mentioned bacon would soon follow. Emma said they tasted good but she would like yellow eggs next time. After scrambling the eggs, I myself, felt a little sick to my stomach and didn't want any eggs at all...green, yellow or otherwise. O h, well!

Little Miss Sara dressed up for Cowboy/Cowgirl Day last week at school.

I was trying to get the back side of Sara's vest in this picture, but she didn't really understand what I wanted her to do. This vest is an antique. It used to be worn by her daddy when he was a little cowboy!

Kindergarten Pictures!

Before leaving the house Emma told me that "Mommies don't stay in Kindergarten." Subtle, Emma.

Ok, Mommy. All these pictures so early in the morning is a little much.

Yes, that is Sara sitting on the carpet in the background. She's also ready for Kindergarten, but Kindergarten isn't ready for her!

Emma and her teacher, Mrs. Wittkopf. Emma's classroom is the same classroom that Marcus had when he was in Kindergarten.

Emma proclaimed that Kindergarten is "great and awesome."

Emma also told me...and I quote..."Mommy, you're not supposed to bring a lunchbox because there is a restaurant inside the school! You get to pick what you want to eat, put it on a tray with a spoon and fork!"

Guess we'll be buying lunch soon!
