Kindergarten Hair Cut

Emma got her first back-to-school haircut!

Ms. Cherry has given Emma a slight trim in the past but this was full-on new style!
She sat very nicely for her cut and answered Ms. Cherry's question.

Emma: Are you going to make me bald?Cherry: (laughter) No, of course not.

Emma: Are you going to shampoo my hair?
Cherry: Do you want me to?
Emma: No.
Cherry: Ok, then we won't.

Cherry: Can I blow dry your bangs for you?
Emma: No, thank you.

After the cut, Emma declared that it was perfect!

Not the best picture to check out the haircut but there will be plenty more in the days to come.

Summer Fun

Here are a few shots from summer 2010!

What would summer be without watermelon?

The girls had a blast at Terrific Tuesdays at church. Each day had a different theme so I had to dress the girls appropriately for Hawaiian Hula day!

Sara's never actually caught anything but the girl loves to fish!

Emma spent quite a few days dressing up "fancy."

I don't think Sara likes to eat tomatoes all that much but she really likes picking them off the vine. This year she realized they were actually a food product and not a small red ball to throw around the dining room.

I discovered The Pioneer Woman's homemade cinnamon rolls! Yum! We've made them twice already and we're planning on taking them to Sunday School too!

We've also been buying uniform pieces for Emma's Kindergarten year. I can't believe it! She is so excited to start "big school."

That's a little bit of our summer and I can't believe it's almost over.

4th of July

Ok, parade! Come on! We're ready for ya!

The parade lasted about an hour and a half. I thought the girls would get bored quickly because this isn't a Disney World parade or anything. Boy, was I wrong! How could two little girls get bored when people continually walked by and gave them beads, lollipops, frozen ice pops, candy, fans, and bottles of water.

The girls had a front row seat. For the most part, we were shaded but we did have to move the girls chairs back once or twice to keep the sun off of them.

Rainy Summer Afternoon

We have made up a list of things that we want to do over the summer. The list includes activities like planting flowers, going to Terrific Tuesdays at church, going to see Toy Story 3 and going on a treasure hunt. Emma was quite taken with the idea of a backyard treasure hunt and wouldn't let me rest until she pinned me down on a date! Our treasure hunt afternoon turned out to be a rainy one so we just modified our hunt for inside.

I used blue painters tape to tape the first clue to the wall so the girls would see it first thing after "rest time." The clues were made up of kindergarten sight words and simple pictures so the girls could figure them out themselves. Gotta get that educational content in!

Yes, the final clue was in the dryer marked with a big blue X!

We just happened to have picked up a little present while on our vacation that became the perfect treasure. Now we have our own ice cream shop!

Here ya go! One triple scoop cone!

Looks like Sara is either experiencing a sugar rush or is having an ice cream brain freeze! Or she could just be making funny faces.

It took me about 45 minutes total to come up with clues, type them, print them out, place them all over the house and "do" the hunt myself a few times to make sure I had placed everything in the correct order.

It took the girls 3 minutes to complete the hunt! At least the ice cream play set has held their attention a lot longer!

Sunday Pictures

I was gently reminded by Grana that our last post was almost a month ago. Time is definitely flying by around here!

I had to take a few photos before we went to church Sunday morning. The girls looked so cute in the Aubie smocked dresses from Grandma and Grandpa.

We were able to get a "love your sister picture" that didn't end up with both of the girls rolling around on the floor!

Where to Start?

We've been so busy lately that the blog has definitely taken a backseat to everything. I guess I'll start with the most recent happening and, maybe, one day...get back to blog about our May Disney trip. Sara is still asking when we are going back to our hotel. The Contemporary Resort really impressed that girl! Anyway...

Last Thursday, Emma graduated from Little Lambs! It was complete with diplomas, caps and gowns. Emma was so excited that she almost ran across the stage. I can't figure out why, but I can't load the video of that at the moment, but here are some pictures from the night.Sara also got some time to shine.

Happy Birthday to Emma and Sara!

We're Back...Kicking and Screaming!

That's right, folks. We went to Disney World! We had a wonderful time on our first family vacation without the help of grandparents! As the laundry pile dwindles, I hope to post some pics of all the fun things we did! Here are just a few to keep you checking back for more!

Birthday Celebration Supper with Lady Tremaine, Prince Charming, Cinderella and the Stepsisters! They were hilarious, by the way. I just love the expression on Sara's face while standing in front of Cinderella's stepmother!

Easter 2010

In an effort to please our fans, here are our Easter pictures!

The girls had a great time at the Resurrection Celebration at church. After a group sing-a-long, each age group of children were set loose in a different room to search for butterflies. The girls were able to find a bunch!

After the butterfly hunt, different stations had been set up so the children could participate in a variety of different activities. Here Emma is having fun decorating butterfly cookies.

The girls also make butterfly mosaic magnets with Bible verses on them.

My favorite was "Bowling for Roman Soldiers." After a Bible story, the girls were given a ball to send down the alley to knock down the soldiers. Cute idea!

We also dyed Easter eggs. I boiled them way too long so they didn't turn out exactly right but the girls didn't notice. They had a great time anyway.

After church and Easter dinner, the children were let loose at Grandma and Grandpa's house to hunt for eggs. Here is Sara's action shot!

Cooper, Emma and Sara relaxed on the swing set after gathering up all the eggs.

Spring Break started next day, so the girls and I headed over to Grana and Grandaddy's house for more egg hunting.

A trip to Grana and Grandaddy's is never complete without a shopping outing to the mall and a ride on the carousel!
