Stickers and Cruising

Emma enjoyed adding stickers to our "heart art." She kept asking me to draw more hearts and then she would put the "faces" on them. Then she had to take the faces off her paper and put them on her milk cup. She hasn't learned that sometimes the stickers won't come off, which is very frustrating!
Our little Sara Grace started cruising Sunday. She started moving down the love seat first, in pursuit of the remote control. Then she moved on to the coffee table. Unfortunately, she had a cruising accident later in the day.
You can tell she got over it and she really didn't cry much at all. She hit the entertainment center with her forehead just over her right eye. She was standing up, holding herself up with one hand and looking over her shoulder at Emma. In the blink of an eye, she was down for the count. The whole thing seemed to happen in slow motion! I just couldn't get there fast enough!

Day after Easter

Since it was so cold Easter Sunday, the girls didn't get to go egg hunting until Monday afternoon. They still had to get bundled up!
Sara didn't get to do much hunting, but Emma did dump her full Easter basket close enough for Sara to snag a few eggs. She seemed to enjoy orange the best. She also picked up a few magnolia leaves too! Imagine where she put them! She is so fast!
Emma liked looking around for the colorful eggs. She would get really excited when she found a bunch together. This time last year she cried when we put her in the grass.
Our girls are growing up too fast!
I promise to post some Easter morning pictures soon! The girls looked lovely in their little dresses.

MawMaw and PawPaw Visit

MawMaw and PawPaw were able to stop by twice on there way to and back from Gulfport, Mississippi last week. They brought the girls some really cute outfits (the ones they are wearing in the picture) and some great books. One is entitled "Everything I Know About the Potty!" We really enjoyed getting to see them and hope they come back soon!
Emma loved serving PawPaw a snack from her tea set. He's probably still full from all the food she kept bringing him!

Sara Stands!

Sara has been trying to pull up since she became mobile. She spent some of her morning nap time practicing in her crib and was able to do it! Learning early that practice makes perfect!
Meanwhile, Emma continues to love balls and Easter eggs, which are usually also called balls. Who knew they make such attractive head coverings!
This morning was a big day for yellow "key cat" (kitty cat in Emma speak). Sara started to show interest so...

Emma had to take it away. That's the way things are around here. Sara puts forth so much effort to crawl over to get something and Emma walks over and snatches it! Poor Sara Grace! Emma better watch out though! Sara will be up and walking in no time!

Sara Grace Update!

Hello! I wanted to give you an update on what I'm up to these days. I enjoy eating, clapping my hands, chewing on things, and crawling. My future endeavors include pulling up on the furniture, yanking my sister's hair, and using the spoon by myself. My parents hope that one day I will hold my bottle and sippy cup with my own two hands. I probably could but I want them to feel needed.
Love,
Sara Grace Kolmetz

Updates!

We have another mobile child! Saturday night, I was busy getting the girls bath ready while Marcus was getting the girls ready...which means getting them undressed. Emma was running around the house squealing with the joy of being in just a diaper. Sara was waiting with Daddy in Emma's room when she spied something she wanted enough (an ABC 123 toy that lights up and plays music) to crawl toward. She's been stuck in "reverse" (getting herself stuck under her crib, Emma's crib, the coffee table, her exersaucer, the list goes on) for a few days so we were excited that she put herself in "drive." As Marcus said, it wasn't pretty but she got the job done. I know she will perfect her crawling in the days to come!

In Emma updates, she continues to love the Little Einstein's and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Her favorite things include being read to, reading to Sara, swinging, and singing along with Jack Hartmann's nursery rhyme CD. She picked up a little Bible book the other day and pointed to the cover and said "Jesus!" As Marcus said, "That is pretty cool." She also was able to identify almost all the items I put in our cart at Publix the other day. The people around us got to hear, "lettuce, cheese, yogurt, milk, cereal, Sara (the baby on the diaper package), apple, banana, Mickey (card aisle) and chocolate cake (as I sprinted down the cookie aisle...like she wouldn't notice what was on the shelves). Of course she doesn't pronounce all these words correctly but I can't figure out how to write the way she says these words, but it's really cute.

We better go. We have lots to do to get ready for our trip to Grana's house tomorrow!

PS I'm on the "new" blogger now Emily!

Swing!

Grandaddy put a swing in the yard at Grana and Grandaddy's house. When we drove up, Emma yelled out "Wheee, wheee, wheee!" Notice where Emma is in this picture... and see how far across the yard she goes! The swing is also convertible to a "big girl swing" for Mommy and Aunt Beth to use!

Meanwhile, at home in Lynn Haven, Daddy and Grandpa were busy setting up and installing this swing set in Emma and Sara's backyard. What a happy surprise! Emma said, "I swing! I swing!" So far we've logged 90 minutes on our new swing set since yesterday afternoon!
The girls are ready to go to church!

January Wrap Up

The girls enjoyed riding around the neighborhood in the new wagon they got for Christmas. I think this was the first time Sara has ever gone outside without some sort of canopy or shade over her little head.
Sara turned 8 months old but someone forgot to take her picture with her little sign until she was already in bed for the night. I'm not crazy enough to wake her up to do it so we did the next best thing. She seemed fine with it, don't you think?
Uncle Brandon and Aunt Lauren gave the girls these stylish t-shirts. It's so much easier to keep up with them this way. If only we had a shirt for the dog!
Emma has really taken to her Cabbage Patch Kid, Meghan. She even has her on a schedule already. Emma only has to feed her for a few minutes every third or forth day. If only it were that easy to take care of a newborn!
Our little Sara is growing up! After being greeted one morning with this angelic face over the railing, we decided to lower her mattress. It just seems like we brought her home from the hospital!

Is this thing working?

I've been having some problems with the "blogger" program not wanting to work for me. Hopefully, this picture will upload! If it does, I promise new pics soon!

And the number are in...Drum Roll Please...

Emma is 21 lbs 8 oz and 32 1/4 inches and Sara Grace is 19 lbs 14 oz and 27 1/4 inches tall. That means Aunt Beth is the winner of a fabulous prize to be given out at a later date! Congrats!

Weight Game

Ok...The girls will be going to the doctor this afternoon so I thought we could have a little game of "Name That Baby Weight." To win, you must come closest to the actual weight of both of the girls. That means you will have to make two "educated" guesses, one for Emma and one for Sara Grace. The winner will receive a wonderful week long cruise to Hawaii...Or maybe just a Christmas ornament. Can't decide yet. So...Start your guessing! Their appointment is a 3pm today! Results later!

Some New Pics

Did you remember to dust your tree before you decorated it? Thank goodness we have Emma around to keep things straight! Call Tidy Toddlers to schedule a tree dusting at your home right away!
Mean while in new food news...Sara Grace has enjoyed sampling prunes. Yum!
Sara Grace got decked out to attend Little Lambs at church last week. The head band actually stayed on her head the entire ride there! Not sure how long it lasted during church though. (If you get really close to the picture you can actually see Sara's new bottom teeth!)

Wow...Has It Been That Long?

I didn't really realize how long it has been since I've posted new pictures. Hope these were worth the wait! I'll try to get some more posted soon. Sara Grace is enjoying solid foods. After feeding her bananas one day, I put her spoon down to get Emma some milk...I turn around and Sara has the spoon in her mouth! Spoon lickin' good!
Sara Grace was the sweetest bumblebee for Halloween. Notice the drool on her costume...Sara is the proud owner of her bottom two teeth! Emma has found the wonders of Reese's cups. They are very "yum."
Emma has also gotten to enjoy the swings at the park recently. We have to get one for her house now!

The Pics I Promised

We're sad to report that Emma has pretty much grown too tall to bathe in the "duck tub." We were afraid of her reaction to having to take a bath in the big tub, but as you can see...she was fine because her small ducks were with her!
Emma says, "I'm a big girl now!"
...and she's really excited about it!
In other bath news... Sara has graduated to the "duck tub!" We were worried that Emma would be jealous to have to share her precious tub with her "tister," but she was okay with it. We're not sure what Sara's reaction to the tub was, but at least there were no tears involved. Maw Maw and Paw Paw visited the girls yesterday. Emma played ball with them and read from her Bible. Sara was able to stare at them and look like a fat, cute baby!

October Already!

I have some new pictures in the camera but I haven't gotten them uploaded to the computer yet. Emma is still walking, running, and talking up a storm! One of her new "jobs" is to move some letter magnets from the refridgerator door to the front of the dishwasher and back and forth. This is helpful when I'm trying to empty the drain board but becomes a hassle when we're trying to cook. Emma is also adamant that the refridgerator door be closed! Do not attempt to get more than one item out because she will be behind you trying to close the door.

Sara is rolling around and making some new sounds. She really likes to make a wet razzing sound and to say 'mamamama," which sometimes sounds like she's saying Emma. Sara enjoys listening to Emma read to her and likes to watch us play with Emma's large beach ball.
When I find the camera, I'll try to get some new pics up. I usually get one or two good shots in before I have to put the camera down and chase someone. As you can imagine, I frequently find the camera in rather strange places.

September Happenings

Guess where Marcus and I were last weekend? We had fun in our old stomping grounds of Auburn, Alabama. Beautiful red brick buildings are popping up all over campus and I felt like Daddy while we walking around. Everytime Mama and Daddy would visit me at school he would look around and say, "That wasn't here when I was in college."
A beautiful view of Samford Hall, Haley Center and Jordan-Hare Stadium. Somebody turned 4 months old recently and started to eat rice cereal. Sara Grace wasn't really sure what to do with her tongue while she was eating, so we're waiting a few days and we'll try again.

I Stand Corrected!

I stand corrected. Someone mentioned in a comment from the last post that Emma can say "uncle." This was just an oversight on my part and I apologize to the anonymous person who wrote the comment. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was Uncle Brandon!

It's Been A While...

Emma has discovered purses! She likes to walk around with them while saying "bye, bye." Just to keep you up to date, here is a list of the words I've heard Emma say so far. Here we go...Daddy, Mama, Duffer (the dogs name is McDuff but we just call him Duff now), duck, diaper, Sara, supper, light, bye-bye, button, hi, book, hi there, no no, what, up, move, mine, cup, Emma, wa wa (water), tister (sister) and hot. Now if she could just put them all in a nice long sentence!
This was Sara's first time in the Bounce, Bounce Baby contraption. Emma likes to walk around her and show her all the cool things on the tray. By the way...Sara smiles a lot now! I don't think she understands cameras yet though. Big news from Sara Graceland...Sara rolled over from her back to her tummy this afternoon!
Emma is modeling Daddy's Donald Duck golfing hat. I just thought this was too cute! Marcus and Emma went to get the mail before he left to golf and Emma came back in the house sporting this look.
Aunt Beth came to visit so it was a good chance for a photo. The outfit Sara Grace is wearing was actually Beth's when she was little. I remember Beth wearing it and wishing I had one like it because it was so soft. We also have pictures of Beth holding Emma while she is wearing the suit, but those were the days before our digital camera. Guess you'll just have to look at the scrapbook...when I finish it.
We are ready to cheer Auburn on to victory against Mississippi State.
