Sara Goes to Church

Sara was excited to go to church for the first time this Sunday. She behaved on the ride to "Little Lambs" and Ms. Connie was so excited to have another Kolmetz baby since Emma has moved on to the "Turtle" class. You can't really tell in this picture, but the girls are wearing matching suits...much to their father's dismay. Speaking of their daddy, you can see him "helping" Emma stay put for the picture. You really can see the difference in the girls skin tones here. Sara is so rosy and Emma is more golden...and no, Emma hasn't been out in the sun.

Emma Gets Dressed Up

Emma got dressed up to model her birthday dress. Aunt Lauren and Uncle Brandon sent it all the way from Macy's in "New York City." (I hope you pronounced the phrase just like the old Pace Pecante Sauce commercials...that's the way I always do)

You know how Emma feels about reading. You're never too dressed up to read! Okay...I guess I went too far. You know how fussy and demanding models can be. We'll try again another day!

Sara Update

Sara isn't being mistreated by Aunt Lauren. This was her normal "look" for the first few weeks of life. Dr. Rachesky thinks she has acid reflux and has put her on soy formula. She has good days and bad days and you can tell what kind of day this was!
Another aunt and the same expression...only a little more unhappy this time. She is doing better since the switch to soy and we go see the doctor again this afternoon. Sara had her best day yesterday. She would eat (without a struggle), stay up for an hour, and then take a little nap. Quite a change from the day this pic was taken!

Emma took some time out of her busy schedule to read to her sister. Sara really enjoyed it despite the fact that the book was upside down. Guess the girls speak their own language already.

Emma Update

Emma and President George Bush would have to disagree about broccoli. Emma loves it and we love the fact that she wants to feed herself with her spoon!
Emma is always looking for someone to read to her. Aunt Beth enjoyed the complex plot twist and character development in "My First Tea Party." Aunt Lauren got to experience the wonderful world of Clifford the Big Red Dog. Emma's zest for reading really excites all the teachers in the family!
Emma got to play with her Uncle Brandon for a few days. He's pouting because Emma took his toy away. Emma also learned how to walk. She still enjoys holding onto the coffee table and going round and round and round and round while talking and talking and talking...well, you get the idea...she will let go of the table and walk across the living room.

Sara Smiles

Sara enjoyed some time in the boppy this afternoon and even treated us to a smile! She seemed to really enjoy the Auburn mobile that I put up. Emma is teaching her the words to the fight song so she will be ready come football season. War Eagle!

What We've Been Up To

This entry does not include any of the details of late night feedings, burping, bathing, stinky diapers, sippy cups, spit ups, drooling, double strollers, mini-vans or large laundry loads of little girl clothes. Those are also things we have been up to lately! Emma seems to have accepted the fact the "bobby" is here to stay. Now she is more curious than jealous, as shown here. Emma likes to check on Sara in the bouncy seat, which is in the pack and play, so she can snatch the blanket off of her sister or bounce her enough to wake her up. (The bouncy is in the pack and play so that Duff won't sniff all over the baby and so Emma won't poke her all the time like she does her dolls.)
Emma continues to love Duff. She points to him and says his name all the time. One day last week she decided that she could help him out by opening the back door to let him in. Thank goodness for deadbolts and the fact that Emma is balancing on the door she is trying to open. It'll only be a matter of time though!
Emma has enjoyed helping Sara with the swing. I guess Emma thought Sara would really like being rattled instead of gently swaying back and forth. No wonder Sara has only stayed in the swing for a total of 5 minutes in the past 4 weeks! It was so cute I had to snap a picture though. I promise the baby was not harmed in the taking of this picture!

Sisters, Sisters...

There were never such devoted sisters...
Just be glad you didn't have to hear me sing the song. Makes
me long for Christmas! Anyway...I have more pics but it will take
a few days to rename them and put them on Shutterfly. Sleep is
more important now!
Extra Credit:
Does everyone know what movie the song above came from?

Pearly Whites

Emma likes to show off her new top teeth, but it's hard to capture with the camera. I know the next picture isn't the greatest, but it really shows off those teeth. She's almost ready for filet mignon now!

ESCAPE!!!

This morning I put Emma in her Bumbo in the hallway near the laundry room so I could iron Marcus' shirt. I turned to talk to her and all I see is her little lavender bottom crawling into the kitchen! I thought I must not have put her in there correctly, so I put her back and got my camera just in case she did it again. I continued ironing and talking to Emma when I caught her pushing herself out again! I was able to catch the little Houdini escaping this time. I told Marcus about it and we put her back in the Bumbo and watched her for a good five minutes...she wouldn't move! Guess she didn't want her Daddy to see her doing something naughty. No more putting Emma in the Bumbo on the kitchen island while I cook supper, even though I probably shouldn't have been doing it anyway.
Tell your friends, alert the media! The Bumbo is no longer a safe haven for Emma!

Getting Ready for Sara Grace

Here are some pictures of Sara Grace's room. Yes...we have finally chosen a name and we promise not to change it...unless "she" turns out to be a "he!" This is the border and wall color in Sara's room. You can't tell, but the wall color is a very soft lavender. As soon as all the furniture is in place, I'll post a finished room pic!

Get Your Motor Runnin'

What is a baby to do when her Grandpa rides a Harley and her Grandaddy owns a Honda/Yamaha dealership? Guess Grandaddy will have to be on the lookout for a baby Honda t-shirt!

I thought I would go through the instructions for leaving a comment on the Blog. After putting pictures and news online, I really enjoy coming back and seeing what everyone has to say. So here goes...it's really easy, so please leave comments if you haven't been already! I'm also a little curious to see who is checking in on the site. 1. After reading an entry, go to the bottom of that entry and hit the word "comment." 2. Write what you would like in the "leave a comment" section. 3. Then choose an identity, which would be "other." 4. Leave your name and then hit "publish your comment." Thank you! I look forward to reading what everyone has to say.

What Are They Looking At?

As everyone knows, Emma is very taken with McDuff. She spends quite a lot of her crawling time trying to follow him around the house. The poor doggy is just trying to get a minute of peace and quiet! Emma has now added "pulling up" to her long list of skills. Sometimes pulling up in her crib and laughing really loud is much more fun than taking the nap that Mama would like her to take. Anyway...yesterday she started pulling up using the glass on the French doors. I caught a picture of these bosom buddies looking out in the backyard. Too cute!
In other Emma news, she is cutting her third tooth! I noticed something white on her top gum while I was changing her diaper this morning. Very exciting.
Gran and Grandma: Pictures have been added to Shutterfly!
We are getting closer to a new baby name. We have pretty much decided that Grace will be her middle name. We'll keep you updated as best we can!

The New and Improved McDuffer Dog

No, Emma. That's not him!

There he is! Doesn't he look distinguished?
