Butterfly Hunt

This was our first year to attend Hiland Park's Butterfly Hunt and Resurrection Celebration. We loaded up in the van Saturday morning, fortified with our Starbuck's coffee (adults only, of course) and headed out. Here are some pics from our outing!

We are so glad that Aunt Beth was able to be with us.

After hunting, we went back downstairs to enjoy some cookies. We saw Marcus' cousin Teresa, her husband Greg and their children.

While Emma did the fishing booth, Sara enjoyed stomping around the Fellowship Hall with Daddy!

I think the girls would say that the best part of the morning was going on the playgound!

Spring-like Sunday

One must have a good snack before playing outside. What better way to fuel up than a picnic! Like I tell Emma, you need energy from your food so you can play.
Guess you really don't need energy to do this though. Don't Daddy and Sara look content?
Okay...resting is over for Sara and looks like Daddy may have a few internal injuries. Don't worry, folks. He was able to walk away with a few bruises but no stitches were needed. Meanwhile, Emma continues to color with her sidewalk chalk.

Poor Daddy couldn't catch a break! McDuff dragged him off the hammock so he could have a spot all to himself! He probably just wanted to get away from those little girls that continually chase him, throw sand at him, or try to hit him with golf clubs. What a good dog!

This One's For Coop

We're sending out this song in honor of our favorite cousin...Cooper! Happy 1 week and 2 days birthday. We would have done this sooner but our Mommy couldn't figure out how to get your picture from your blog. We hope you enjoy it and we're keeping a spot open for you in The Kolmetz Kid Band. Emma and Sara

If you listen closely, you can hear both of the girls singing along. They were both in Emma's room when they heard the beginning chords of this song and they both ran out into the living room as quick as lightening! This is by far their favorite song! Sorry for the poor lighting quality. Guess we'll have to bring in the flood lights during the concerts!

All Kinds of Things

The title of this blog entry comes from Emma. We've been learning how to pray before bedtime and I asked Emma, "What would you like to thank God for today?" She replied, "All kinds of things." So, here is "all kinds of things."

Emma and Mommy planted some cilantro and mint last Sunday afternoon. Mommy is looking forward to using the cilantro in Mexican food and the mint in iced tea! We hope the squirrels leave our herbs alone!

Emma was very precise while watering the cilantro.

Meanwhile, Sara was able to have some one-on-one time with the sandbox!

She was so excited to have it all to herself!

Emma and Sara were lunching ladies today at McDonald's. We were supposed to have a MOPS playdate, but we were the only ones who showed up to play. We weren't surprised since it rained early in the morning and the playground was still wet.

We decided to share a Happy Meal instead!

Grandaddy helped Emma devise a kitty catcher. Aunt Beth's poor cat never got a moments rest unless the girls were asleep too. Aubie probably slept for a week!Sara continues to love the David books. She and David have a lot in common. They both hear the word "no" and their name...a lot!
The girls enjoyed feeding the sea gulls and the pelicans.

Picnic Table and Chairs

Daddy found the cutest Mickey Mouse Clubhouse picnic table and chairs at Toys R Us last weekend. The table, chairs, and umbrella were $30! What a deal!

The girls were very taken with the umbrella.

Emma was dealing with her allergy issues but she enjoyed being outside anyway.

Emma and Sara's golf outting was a mix of golf, keep-away, and croquet. It was quite a sight!

Speedy Sara!

NO, I wouldn't really put Sara in a dog crate, although, it would make my life a little easier! Sara has been incredibly busy the last few days! Standing on the arm of the couch playing with the light switches (thank goodness we've had the gas turned off or she would be controlling the fire place! scary!), sitting in the middle of the coffee table watching T.V., trying to climb up a ladder I was using the paint the kitchen (it was folded up and, I thought, out of the way) and continually trying to eat acorns when we are outside. You'd think I didn't watch her at all but she is so fast! We're starting to call her "Speedy Sara!"

Emma Sings Cinderella

Emma and Sara watched Cinderella while traveling back and forth to Ft. Walton during Christmas. Emma is now quite taken with Cinderella and really enjoys singing with her. I shot this video while we were listening to the Disney Princess CD during lunch this week. Hope you enjoy it!

Cookin' Up and Playin' Up a Storm!

Poor bay (that's what Sara calls her blanket) must have needed to cool off! Sara was busy alternating bay's location from the refrigerator to the oven of the little kitchen. I've heard of people putting towels in the dryer to warm them up, but never the oven! Emma has really enjoyed cooking in the kitchen too. She makes lots of strawberry tea. She will put a plastic strawberry in a tea cup and then fill it with hot water from her teapot. She also really likes washing her hands in the sink. She also complains about having to wash the dishes. Wonder where she's heard that? Isn't her apron cute?
We had a great jam session the other night. Daddy played his guitar with accompaniment from Emma and Sara.
Sara and Daddy decided to switch instruments. I don't know if they will be getting a recording contract anytime soon, but it was a joyful noise for sure!
Sara got up close and personal with the pink guitar ("gek-car" in Emma-ease).

January Update!

We've been having some chilly and rainy weather lately. The girls have been stuck inside for the last few days, but we were able to go to the park Tuesday afternoon. Emma and Sara continue to love to swing!
Emma loves taking care of her pet puppy, Bella. She enjoyed taking her for a walk at the park. Emma seems to have a great imagination and can play with just about anything. She was using her cup and her bowl this morning to talk to each other.
Sara continues to be an adventurous toddler. She climbed up the steps to the slide all by herself and then proceeded to crawl up the tube to the big slide. I'm sure the other people at the park enjoyed seeing me crawling up the tube after her and pulling her out by her pants.
Emma has started walking in her Daddy's Birkenstocks on occasion. She's also very interested in putting on her own shoes and socks. The other day she was pouting and I asked her what was wrong. She said, "I can't wead (read) and I not happy!" We started extensive phonics and letter recognition training that afternoon! Just kidding!
Emma has also graduated to what we call a "princess bed." She's been sleeping on a regular twin mattress and box springs placed on the floor for a few months now. We had to put it up on the bed frame this weekend because little sister Sara kept getting on it and jumping up and down. She continues to be very fast! Now, poor little Sara can't lift her little leg high enough to even hope of getting on the bed by herself.

Poor little Sara Gracie! She fell asleep while I was making her sandwich...no, it didn't take me long to make it. She was just so tired! She looks so sweet it her Auburn sweats! She was just resting up for the big game!
